Extract from an article about Lars Rasmussen
Metamorphosis
Lars Rasmussen has long since created a sublime universe of exotic
women. They are often enchanting beauties with almond eyes, hair down the
back and glowing silk skin of the kind that healthy men dream about. When
you go close to the paintings, it turns out that they are so much more than just
sensuous. Indeed, they are stirring. But at many levels they are
wrapped in mystery. As if they hide a story, conceal a tale from far away.
They are metamorphosis pictures put in a scene, which can't be grasped.
Surrounded by flowers, far away mountains, and interiors from a distant age.
The paintings are exquisite, sometimes almost outrageously exquisite.
Ecstasy
"But it's on purpose. I love to throw perfume and flowers into my
pictures. I want to make them delightful and fascinating, as long as they
can bear it. We live in a puritan society that much too quickly condemns
anything beautiful. I want to reach the total submission in my paintings.
Complete intoxication. Ecstasy. Too few artists dare take this
step."
